BILL EVANS

JULY 14, 6:00 PM - BILL EVANS with FROZEN FIRE at Arcadia Cafe (Book Signing)

Just Books is pleased to host the book launch party for multiple Emmy Award-winning, nationally-renowned senior meteorologist and Greenwich resident, Bill Evans. Bill Evans is known for his weather reports on WABC-TV in New York and has appeared on Good Morning, America and many other television programs, in addition to being on WPLJ-FM and WGCH-AM. The book launch party is for his second novel Frozen Fire (Forge Books, $24.95), the follow-up book to Evans' bestselling debut novel Category 7. Category 7 vividly portrayed the devastating impact of a powerful hurricane on New York City. Now Evans and his co-writer Marianna Jameson return with Frozen Fire, another edge-of-the-seat thriller that mixes atmospheric science with cutting-edge technology. Eager to exploit a potentially lucrative energy source, billionaire Dennis Cavendish has begun to tap the crystalline methane under the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Eco-terrorism kills his science team and releases gigatons of poisonous methane into the water and atmosphere, causing untold deaths. If the release isn't stopped, all life on Earth will soon disappear.

BILL EVANS is a nationally-known meteorologist based at WABC 7 in New York City, where he is Senior Meteorologist for Eyewitness News in the Morning and Eyewitness at Noon. In February 2007, WABC received their highest ratings in their history - proving Bill Evans is the #1 person New Yorkers turn to for weather information. Evans has won 7 Emmy Awards. In addition to his television broadcasting duties, he does the weather for RadioDisney, ESPN Radio, WGCH-AM, and appears on ABC radio in major markets throughout the US, as well as filling in on Good Morning America.
As the senior on-air weather personality, Bill has written and produced numerous documentaries on hurricanes and severe weather. In the course of his research, he has flown in "Hurricane Hunter" aircraft during major storms. He was presented with the annual Outstanding Meteorologist Award by the National Weather Service for his research and reporting efforts. His appearances on Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly, as well as national radio reports, have made Evans nationally known for his entertaining and energetic weather coverage.
With Category 7 (Forge HC 2007; Tor MM 2008), a gripping, fast-paced thriller, ABC News expert meteorologist Bill Evans and technical writer and editor Marianna Jameson terrorized the world as they propelled a devastating hurricane straight toward New York City. By blending real science with an action-packed storyline this dynamic duo held readers riveted, which hurtled their debut novel onto the New York Times Bestsellers List.
Now, Evans and Jameson are back with a new thriller that will once again have readers scanning the news headlines and pondering the state of our world and environment. In FROZEN FIRE (A Forge Hardcover; $24.95; June 23, 2009), they use the very real premise of the exploitation of a potentially lucrative - and dangerous - energy source as a springboard to spin an exhilarating and cautionary tale that is utterly thought-provoking even as it entertains.
