PHYLLIS SINRICH PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT AT ARCADIA COFFEE COMPANY - "FIND IT. SHOOT IT: THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S EYE"
Old Greenwich, CT - The Arcadia Coffee Company will feature 30 photographs by Stamford photographer Phyllis Sinrich in a special solo exhibit, Find it. Shoot it: The Photographer's Eye, from November 1 to 30. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, November 4 from 3 to 5 pm. In 2001, after more than 25 years as a public relations consultant in Stamford, Sinrich turned a passion for photography - which had been a hobby since childhood - into her "third life." "Being recognized as an artist is gratifying and very exciting," she says. Her work is exhibited regularly in area juried shows, most notably the Stamford Art Association Annual Faber Birren National Color Award Show. She has a piece in the current show and has won several sponsored awards over the years. In 2003 one of her abstract photographs was a First Place winner in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Annual National Travel Photo Competition. Other venues have been the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in New Canaan, CT and the Edward Hopper House Art Center in Nyack, NY. During the past few years she has increasingly exhibited at invitational and solo shows. Aviva Gale, Arcadia curator, says, "Phyllis' 'photo-expressionism' style is imagery that is spontaneous and interpretive, focused on capturing powerful emotional reactions through brilliant colors and dynamic compositions."
"For me, it's the thrill of discovery," Sinrich says. "The 'wow' of coming upon bits of paint and paper transformed into dazzling street-art . . . an awesome reflection . . . an image that resonates emotionally. Find it. Shoot it. Capture it forever."
