(FEATURING GREENWICH POINT BUILDINGS AND LOCAL HOMES)
ON VIEW AND TAKING COMMISSIONS: JUNE 1st - 29th
OPENING RECEPTION: Sunday, June 3rd (3-5pm)

Arcadia Coffee Company's June art show will feature the pen and ink drawings of former Greenwich resident and artist Karin Stenberg Layton. The opening reception will be Sunday, June 3rd 3-5 pm. Karin's drawings will include local homes and town buildings. Both black and white and color prints of Greenwich Point buildings will also be on display and for sale.

Karin's interest in art began as a student at Greenwich High School, where she was inducted into the National Art Honor Society during her sophomore year. Karin's style represents a blend of precise architectural renderings with freehand details. Her earliest influence was her father, Lars Stenberg, an architect and graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Karin studied painting with the late Evelyn Engborg, a Greeenwich artist especially known for her oil landscapes of Greenwich Point. Karin's drawings of private homes include a range of architectural styles, from shingle to tudor style. Her favorite period of American architecture is the 1900-1930s.

Ms. Layton is a member of the Greenwich Arts Council and the Art Society of Old Greenwich, and has sold artwork at the Old Greenwich Sidewalk Art Show. Karin's note cards of buildings at Greenwich Point are available for sale in Just Books, Inc. and Quelques Chose in Old Greenwich. She is also a member of the North County Art Association in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Karin is currently living in Florida, where she teaches third grade at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach and draws houses. She spends summers drawing in Greenwich and is now accepting orders for this summer. She prefers to draw "on location" and enjoys involving her clients in the process from rough draft to matted piece. Clients can also order note cards of their house portraits, suitable for everyday correspondence, special occasions or as holiday cards.
