Gary Calabro grew up in Greenwich where he attended Byram School and the old Greenwich High School (now Town Hall). He loves the town and paints many local scenes. This year Mr. Calabro's work was selected for the invitation and brochure celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Perrot Library in Old Greenwich. He has also illustrated a gorgeous limited edition book, A Portrait of Greenwich with text written by William Clark. Calabro's work reflects the artist's love of this special place. He truly captures the beauty and spirit of the local scenery.
Mr. Calabro received his formal art training at the Silvermine College of Art in New Canaan and also studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and with Aurelio Yammerino at the National Academy of Design in New York City. After a successful career in commercial art, he turned his interest and energy to the fine arts. Mr. Calabro currently maintains studios in both Greenwich, Conn., and Palm Beach, Fla.
