"My Grandfather was an artist. He told me when I was a kid that the only prerequisite to being a painter is that you have to be interested in everything. So from the age of eight or so, whenever I found myself disgusted with an ideal or compelled to shun someone's plight, I'd force myself to engage their relevance. This was a tough mantra to live by, but seemingly manifested itself into the way I create.
My paintings are essentially highly stylized realizations based on a format of eternal confusion. My work always ends up having this contrarian sensibility. An embracing of their very nature while they are simultaneously destroyed by the same nature or force.
Maybe Grandpa was wrong. Maybe a more concentrated view would reveal just as Many variables to the Human/Universal condition as opposed to the all encompassing overview. Regardless, I'm sure I'll weigh the relevance of both. "
